Research suggests that there is a connection between family stress and conflict and teenagers’ wellbeing. One thing that can help teens deal with the stress of family, friends, and school is being attentive to the present moment, without judging or evaluating it. The purpose of this study is to better understand the impact of an 8-week mindfulness course (teaching teens how to pay attention, on purpose, in the present moment) on the stress of adolescents from families with some conflict or stress.

We are also conducting a series of focus groups with local teens to support the development of interventions to reduce their stress.
